How do you manage the demand of your business and your life around your own personal body demands, and taking care of yourself?
This week, I share with you how taking a slow morning, or Me-Morning can make you more productive.

Hey, it's Gail Bennell here. Today I want to share with you the results of the day that I woke up feeling sick, and took a me morning, and really took care of myself, and I want to tell you what happened. So, what I did, I woke up, I had a headache and slept in. I'd scheduled a bit of a planning and report writing day for myself, with a few clients in the afternoon.
Now, what happened? Well, I woke up. I had a massive headache, and I really didn't feel capable of doing the things that I'd planned, so I took a slow morning, and I gave myself permission to work on what I felt like. So, I noticed, it was actually the first day of September, and the trees in my backyard were starting to bloom, and the grass had grown. So, it was looking really pretty, and the sun was shining. So, I took my laptop and I sat outside, which was lovely. It was warm enough to sit outside, and that instantly makes me feel better. And I gave myself permission to work on what felt good.
I tinkered around with a few things on my website, and learned a few new skills that I hadn't had time, or made time to work on before, and it was really, really good. Then, one thing led to another and I worked on some client reports. I gave one of my good girlfriends a bit of a call to give myself a bit of a pep talk. I went and saw both my clients, and I wrote down at the end of the day all of the things that I had achieved that day.
It turned out, it was a bit of a completion kind of day. I'd finished off a lot of things that I'd started but hadn't had the energy to finish, which was brilliant, and I'd learned new things about my website, and I'd also written myself a new operating procedure, a new system, that was working a lot better for me, around writing.
When I wrote it all down, I realized that that day was actually more productive than my usual work day. Can you believe that? So, a day where I had been, if I had worked in a traditional workplace, I would have called in sick. I would have not gone that entire day. That entire day would have been lost productivity. I wouldn't have seen those clients. I wouldn't have finished anything. Even though, by lunch time, I was feeling okay.
By working for myself, I could choose my schedule, and I could choose to prioritize self-care and taking care of myself, and when I was ready, I could get going and do, what ended up, doing some really important things. This is such a new concept for me, and changing the way I work to the way that my body needs me to be. As a side note, I have not come down the the cold or flu at all in the last 12 months. I have been quite healthy and I have missed out on, missed out on, avoided all of those colds, and bugs, and flu that strike down a lot of people. So, it's really working for me.
I'd love to know, do you do this? How do you manage the demand of your business and your life around your own personal body demands, and taking care of yourself? This is a really important conversation to have, so I'd love for you to share what you do. If this is new to you, I'd love to share how you might be able to make steps toward making this happen in your own business and your own life.
Love to hear from you.
